Nai Harn beach is very popular with the local residents of Phuket. Though the beach is not full of tourists as Patong, Kata, Karon and other busy tourist beaches located on the west coast of the island. Even in high season, the beach never seems crowded. The reason is that just a few hotels are located nearby Nai Harn.
Things to Do at Nai Harn Beach, Phuket, Thailand
Beach lovers can rent an umbrella with a sunbed or enjoy the famous Thai massage right under palm trees with a beautiful sea view. There are plenty of restaurants and shops near the beach. Restaurants offer both Thai and European-style dishes, such as hamburgers, pizza, and french fries. Shops sell beach and snorkeling equipment, such as rubber rings and mattresses, bodyboards for swimming on the waves. The surfboard can be rented directly on the beach.
Nai Harn beach is great for families with children. There is a small shallow water pond on the eastern side of the beach located about 50 meters from the sea. A stream of water flows from the pond to the sea. The depth of the pond is approximate to the knee and there is no current inside so it’s suitable for kids to swim and play.
Surroundings of Nai Harn Beach
The surroundings of Nai Harn are as gorgeous as the beach itself. A beautiful Buddhist temple is approximately 500 meters from the beach. The temple has a prayer hall, monks praying sounds can be heard in the evenings. The temple stands beside the lake which is popular with local runners: a 2.2 km long track stretches around the lake. There are plenty of camps teaching Thai boxing Muay Thai in the area of Nai Harn beach, and many athletes come here for a jog. You can find a small workout area on the east part of the lake, with several body resistance machines. Nice waterfront park between the temple and the lake is suitable for a quiet relaxing time in the shade of trees.
