Similan Islands 2019 | Day Trip from Phuket
Every year from May to November Similan Islands are closed for flora and fauna recovery. That’s why if you want to visit Similan Islands, April is your last chance. Similan Islands are like local Maldives, beautiful archipelago of southern Thailand. Cliffs, beaches with white sand, turquoise water, so clear that you can see bright and diverse marine life deep inside.
Talking about marine life, there live whale sharks, giant mantas, dolphins, turtles, and even whales! Must be extremely interesting for divers and snorkeling lovers also. The most frequent marine resident to meet is a turtle. But don’t forget about the rule: “No feeding, no touching”.
Note that it takes a lot of time to get to Similan Islands but for people looking for new impressions it is not a barrier. There are two variants you can get to Similan Islands. The first one – you can buy a tour going there by speedboat. The second one – you can rent a catamaran with a captain. The difference is in comfort and price.
Speedboat trip will cost about 65$ per person. Catamaran rent price starts with 1100$ for 10 people, 110$ per person. Good for big companies.
For this tour kids under 5 years old are not allowed because it takes a long time to get to the islands.
Boats leave from Khao Lak pier, it is about 2 hours drive by minibus from Phuket (included in the tour) and 1,5 hours by boat. Usually, the tour starts at 4 am and finishes at about 9 pm.
